This means examining what is necessary to the production process and what is not to determine how to improve the process and illimatinate “muda,” or unneeded work, and “muri,” overburden. Examining the term “muda” can help determine what exactly it is. Muri can be defined as anything that is not necessary to production: picking up a mess or finding tools can both be considers “muda.” In order to eliminate this for example, you can place tools neatly near the work area so they are all readily available.
